MASTERPIECES IN GRAPHIC ART
Elisabeth Werp
Elisabeth Bjørnsen Werp is a Norwegian artist with a distinctive and recognizable style. She trained at the National College of Art and Design and the National Academy of Fine Art, with further studies in Paris and Florence.
Werp's works move within a tension between the figurative and the non-figurative, where motifs often appear as fragments of memories and dreamlike states. The images contain rich symbolism, closely tied to personal experiences, but open to the viewer's own interpretations.
The artistic process is intense and full of contrasts – from the raw and powerful to the delicate and detailed, layer upon layer. Through this interplay, she explores themes such as construction and deconstruction, light and darkness, the beautiful and the unsettling.
Werp is particularly concerned with the human inner landscape. In her art, we encounter a poetic yet restless world, where melancholy, vulnerability, and longing are given space and form.
