MASTERPIECES IN PRINTS

Hanne May Scheen

Hanne-May Scheen’s monotypes are built up from layers of transparent colours printed on paper. The thin and overlapping layers create and reveal new forms and areas of tension within the composition. The artistic language is abstract, with hints of recognisable elements and forms. The surfaces can allude to underlying motifs such as observations from nature, architectural constructions, or human traces. In this series of monotypes, the expression delves inward, abstracting a sense of today's reality. Scheen has a background from the National College of Art and Design in Oslo and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. For the past 20 years, she has specialised in painting and printmaking.
