Ida Helmersen is a young graphic artist currently studying at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO). She approaches art as an exploration of the lines between experiences and memories – an existential quest driven by a need to remember, experience, and create. She finds a particular sense of calm in printmaking, techniques that demand time, precision, and presence. In the meticulous and almost meditative work with details, an experience of disappearing from the world emerges – as if the process itself is an escape. Helmersen combines digital and traditional techniques in her work, in an attempt to capture a reality that can never quite be recreated.
