Recipe for flavored oil in small bottles
Prepare the oil a couple of days in advance and let the flavors develop in the fridge. Serve straight from the bottle – or wrap them with a ribbon and bring as a hostess gift. Here are three fresh varieties that go with just about anything.
1. Garlic & chili oil
Perfect for grilled meats, pizza, and pasta dishes
- 2 dl olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, lightly crushed
- 1 dried chili or 1 tsp chili flakes
- A few black peppercorns
2. Lemon & thyme oil
Delicious with salads, grilled fish, and vegetables.
- 2 dl olive oil
- Zest from ½ organic lemon (yellow part only)
- 2–3 sprigs of fresh thyme
3. Rosemary & pepper oil
Perfect with potatoes, lamb, and bread.
- 2 dl olive oil or canola oil
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 1 tsp whole peppercorns (mixed, if desired)
How to do it:
- Place the ingredients in clean, dry bottles (for example, Norgesflasker with screw caps)
- Make sure everything is well covered with oil.
- Store the bottles in a dark, cool place for 2–3 days before use.
- Shake gently before serving – especially if you use chili that floats in the bottle.

Tip:
Use a funnel when pouring oil into the bottles – it makes the job both neater and easier!
Here we have used the 3.3 dl Norgesflasken with a screw cap – the perfect size and a charming design!
