Born 1999 – lives in Lunde, Telemark. Espen Nerhus is a classical figurative painter based in Telemark. His subjects include still lifes, landscapes, and portraits, and he primarily works in oil paint. He also creates drawings and watercolors. Nerhus has a deep interest in the craft of painting and has devoted much time to studying materials and techniques. He often makes his own oil paint and refines linseed oil by hand. Many of the methods he uses are learned through studies of old masters and historical manuscripts on traditional painting techniques. From 2020 to 2022, he was a student of the artist Elisabeth de Lunde. Since then, he has worked independently and paints every day.
