Born in 2001 – based in Oslo. Ida Helmersen works with art as an exploration of the lines between experience and understanding – an existential search driven by a need to feel, experience, and create. She finds a particular sense of calm in woodcut printmaking, a technique that requires time, precision, and presence. In the meticulous work with details, there is a feeling of disappearing from the world – as if the process itself is an escape. Helmersen combines digital and traditional techniques in her work, in an attempt to capture a reality that can never truly be recreated.
