Born 1987 – based in Tromsø Kristine Hansmark is a Norwegian painter educated at the Nerdrum School and the Florence Academy of Art. She works in a classical figurative tradition and is known for her atmospheric, nature-inspired paintings. Through painting, she explores the relationship between people and nature, highlighting the beauty and vulnerability of our surroundings. Her subjects range from jellyfish and underwater scenes to forests and cod. The cod paintings are part of the Havets Gull (Ocean’s Gold) series, where she emphasizes the value of fish and points to humanity’s responsibility as stewards of nature’s resources.
