Born 2000 – based in Oslo. Lea Alstad (b. 2000) is a self-taught visual artist from Trondheim, now living in Oslo. She has developed her artistic expression through her own exploration and experimentation, and is especially known for detailed portraits and figurative motifs that balance between realism and the dreamlike. Inspired by a childhood surrounded by anatomical drawings, Alstad creates works that explore what lies beneath the surface of the skin. She works in layers with various media – acrylic, ink, watercolor, and oil – to create texture and depth in her images. The result is artwork that invites the viewer to reflect on the inner landscape of humanity. Alstad has gained international attention and has built a large following on social media. Her works are exhibited in galleries all over Norway and are found in private collections worldwide. "My inner visual world comes to life on the canvas. I love to balance between realism and structure and its opposite: dreams, adventures, and the impulsive," says Alstad.
