Watercolors
Magnus Schive (b. 1987) is an Oslo-based architect and illustrator, known for his detailed and colorful watercolors of urban spaces and landscapes. He was educated at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO), where he completed his master’s degree in 2015.
After years of drawing through studies and work, he has in recent years made water-based painting his primary artistic expression—hence the artist name Vannfarger.
Schive draws inspiration from both architecture and nature, and his works are characterized by a combination of realistic motifs and surreal details. The process starts with hand sketches, which are painted in layers with watercolor and gouache. For some motifs, he also uses waterproof pen to add fine details. Finally, the works are digitized and post-processed in Photoshop before being printed in limited editions.
