YOUTH ARENA

Vida Aasen

Born 1992 – based in Oslo. Vida Aasen (b. 1992) is a ceramic artist based in Oslo. She works with figurative animal sculptures modeled in clay—a material-based exploration of the relationship between humans and animals. Her sculptures are created both individually and in groups, using various types of clay, sizes, and expressions. Her work examines how animals are categorized as desirable or undesirable, the fine line between empathy and aversion, and how such perceptions influence our attitudes toward biodiversity. Currently, Aasen is an artist assistant for Torbjørn Kvasbø and project coordinator at the Center for Ceramic Art in Ringebu. She teaches sculpture at Strykejernet Art School and Nitja Center for Contemporary Art, and runs her own studio in Oslo.
