Kristiania University College

At the heart of Kristiania University College’s flagship building in Oslo, the sculpture Yggdrasil stretches 5.5 metres skyward. A gift from Ava Eiendom, the artwork is designed by Maud Gjeruldsen Bugge – artist and Head of Design at Hadeland Glassverk – and stands as a central piece of the building’s artistic expression.
Yggdrasil is a tree made of brass and mouth-blown glass, composed of 52 domes from Hadeland’s Arkiv series, crafted in a warm and vibrant palette. Inspired by the mythological tree, the work represents wisdom, growth and knowledge – tied closely to both the college’s academic mission and the building’s open, vertical design.
The sculpture is part of a larger curated art programme, developed in collaboration between Kristiania and Maud Gjeruldsen Bugge. The artworks are selected to inspire curiosity, reflection and presence – within a space designed for learning, collaboration and development.
