The Government Quarter
Reborn design with respect for history

Hadeland Glassverk has supplied custom lighting to Norway’s Government Quarter since the 1950s. Now, as part of the restoration of the complex’s original architecture, we are recreating 120 lamps based on original 1958 designs – in close collaboration with Statsbygg and the Directorate for Cultural Heritage.
The lamps are hand-shaped and mouth-blown at Hadeland, using the same techniques as in the 1950s. While the iconic exterior form remains unchanged, the interior has been modernised with energy-efficient LED lighting.
This installation is part of a larger effort to restore the building’s cultural and architectural identity – preserving its historic value while adapting to modern functionality.
