DUER

DUER is an art collective consisting of Magnus Helgesen (b. 1995), Stig Magnus Makipark (b. 1995), and Christian Zervos (b. 1995). United by a shared love of graffiti, the three artists came together in their teens and first found an outlet in Bærum’s graffiti scene. After creating thousands of works in Oslo and Akershus, DUER developed a distinctive technique now used in painting, clothing, installations, and wall art. DUER’s style clearly reflects the collective’s roots in the graffiti scene and their multinational heritage. With backgrounds from Norway, Greece, and South Korea, they draw inspiration from ancient Greece and modern South Korean pop culture. Their early focus on spray paint has expanded to include techniques such as oil painting, printmaking, and sculpture. The collective broke through in the music industry, creating hand-painted garments for artists like Astrid S, The Chainsmokers, 6ix9ine, G-Eazy, Tiesto, and Swae Lee. They’ve also painted murals for festivals like Øya, Kadetten, and Stavern. More recently, DUER has produced commissioned works for the REV Ocean project and exhibited installations at conferences such as Our Ocean and Xynteo Exchange. In April 2023, they opened their own gallery in Oslo, Galleri Duer. The gallery showcases contemporary art in the form of painting, sculpture, photography, and installations, and has quickly built a solid reputation with exhibitions by both established and emerging Norwegian artists.
