MASTERPIECES IN GRAPHICS

Henrik Mikkelsgård

Henrik Mikkelsgård (b. 1989) lives and works in Hamar. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Sierra Nevada College and has also studied pedagogy in art and crafts at Oslomet. Mikkelsgård has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including at Kösk, Hos Arne, and Galleri Soon. In recent years, he has established himself as a distinct voice in the contemporary art scene, with an expression that stands out through its immediacy and energy. His upbringing in environments shaped by skate and snowboard culture has significantly influenced his artistry. Through magazines, photography, film, and music, he was exposed early to visual expressions and creative unfolding. This influence remains a foundation in his work, where curiosity, a desire to explore, and the need for self-expression are central. Today, painting is his primary medium. His works are characterized by a free and intuitive visual language, with a playful and at times naive approach to subject matter and narrative. With a rich and vibrant use of color, Mikkelsgård creates visual narratives that both engage and challenge the viewer.
