Chilling time: At least 2 hours, preferably overnight

  • 200 ml milk
  • 200 ml plain yoghurt

  • 4 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence or vanilla powder
  • 1 tsp honey

Method

  1. Place the milk, yoghurt, chia seeds, oats, vanilla and honey in a bowl or a suitable glass dish.
  2. Stir well until the chia seeds and oats are evenly distributed.
  3. If you have mixed the ingredients in a bowl, transfer the mixture to a Norgesglasset ovenproof glass dish.
  4. Put on the lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. Top with homemade blueberry jam before serving. Sprinkle over a little granola for extra crunch.

Tip: Try our homemade blueberry jam as a topping. It adds a lovely balance of sweetness and fresh berry flavour. View the recipe.

Try mango and passion fruit

For a different flavour, swap the blueberry jam for a fresh fruit topping.

Mash half a mango with the pulp of one passion fruit. Spoon the mixture over the overnight oats before serving.

This creates a fresh, fruity variation that's just as lovely for breakfast as it is for a light snack.

Prepare breakfast the night before

Overnight oats are an easy way to prepare breakfast in advance. This version combines rolled oats and chia seeds to create a creamy mixture that thickens in the fridge overnight.

With Norgesglasset ovenproof glass dishes with lids, you can mix and store your breakfast in the same dish. When you're ready to eat, simply take it out of the fridge and add your favourite toppings.

Overnight oats are ideal for meal prep. Make a larger batch to have breakfast ready for several days. Serve individual portions as needed and keep the rest covered in the fridge.
